The second sentence of this article says: Studying abroad is expensive, but tonight, one can experience a taste of another country at Malaysian Night.
The author used can here because this is a positive ability. It is something that people are able to do. They used can instead of could because it is in the present tense.

Ukulele Club's First Meeting
Yesterday was the first meeting of the ukulele club and I think everyone had a fun time. We started by introducing ourselves and saying if we had ever played a musical instrument before. Then, everyone learned basic vocabulary about the ukulele, such as the number for each string and the number for your fingers. After that, we learned the C chord, which is the easiest chord to learn. No one had any difficulty with the C chord! Then we learned the F and G7 chords, and these are much more difficult to learn because your fingers have to make funny shapes. This took a little while to learn. The last thing we did was an exercise where we played one measure of the F chord, one measure of the G7 chord, and two measures of the C chord. Overall I think the lesson was fun and everyone learned a lot!
